Role Overview

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s sales strategy, leading a high-performing sales team, and driving the achievement of sales targets and revenue goals. This senior leadership role requires a results-oriented individual with a proven track record in sales management, strategic planning, and team development. The VP of Sales will oversee and lead the activities of the sales teamspecializing in fire alarms, fire suppression systems, security alarms, and video and access control systems. They will build, train, and manage a high-performing team, ensuring the company’s sales goals are met and exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve the company’s revenue and growth objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify new business opportunities and target markets.
  • Establish sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics to measure success and drive accountability.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align sales strategy with overall business objectives

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, train, and develop sales talent to ensure the team has the skills and capabilities to meet and exceed targets.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching to drive individual and team success.
  • Instill a value-based selling mindset within the team and define a repeatable, high-quality sales process.

Sales Operations and Process Optimization:

  • Oversee the execution of sales plans and initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Refine sales systems, including Salesforce, Pardot, and DealHub, to drive efficiency and uncover data-driven insights on sales performance.
  • Assess and improve team processes and procedures, implementing enhancements as needed.
  • Track and analyze sales statistics on key quantitative metrics to monitor and optimize perform

Customer Engagement and Market Expansion:

  • Manage key client relationships and major sales opportunities, serving as the executive sponsor when necessary.
  • Meet with large/key accounts to explore opportunities and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identify emerging markets and verticals to find new sales opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Corporate Leadership and senior management to identify and prioritize opportunities to grow with major national accounts.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
  • Provide market intelligence and feedback to product development, marketing, and executive teams.

Leadership in Customer Satisfaction:

  • Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and loyalty through a customer-centric approach.
  • Address and resolve escalated customer issues and concerns promptly and effectively.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an escalation point for support, removing roadblocks and role modeling selling behaviors when needed.
  • Support and provide oversight of company sales strategies, development of new initiatives, and ongoing improvements.
  • Facilitate communication across different projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Administer, communicate, and stay in sync with all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales management, with a proven track record of success in driving revenue growth.
  • Industry experience in the fire and security business preferred; NICET I FAS Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in building and leading high-performing sales teams.
  • Excellent strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable sales strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software (Salesforce preferred) and other sales management tools.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of financial metrics and performance indicators.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Proven time management skills, prioritization, and delivery against deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
